Watch the Ordination Live on Saturday June 4th

If you can't make the ordination and would like to watch it live, then go to this website on Saturday June 4th at 10.00am and you will be able to watch the whole thing live. (If you are watching from England, this will mean 4.00pm on Saturday evening.)

We also hope to stream live the First Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday 5th June at 11.00am from the Jesuit Church of the Immaculate Conception in New Orleans.

What kind of hat are you wearing?

Clearly, the English ladies present are going to be wearing hats for the ordination...

See mum for the classical example...

F.Y.I. British Airways does not charge extra to store hat boxes on long haul flights, in case you were wavering on bringing one.

Who is preaching at the First Mass?

A tradition for most newly ordained priests is to invite someone else to preach at their 'first' mass. Mostly it helps the new priest to focus on the job at hand and let someone else inspire the congregation with carefully chosen words.

I have asked my long time school friend from Stonyhurst and now diocesan priest, Rev. Fr. Philip Conner to do the honours. He is a priest from the Lancaster Diocese and currently leads all ministry with young people in the diocese.

He is not the Bishop but is the person on the left, still with the deacon's stole on the way to the altar for his ordination.

Holy Hour

You are warmly invited to join the family and friends of the Ordinandi for a Holy Hour to be held in Holy Name Church from 4.00-5.00pm on Friday June 3rd. This will be a great opportunity to gather and pray for the men to be ordained. There will be moments of silence and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the celebration of Vespers (Evening Prayer) and opportunity for individual confession. Hope to see you there.

Invitations!

Good news! The invitations will soon be winding their way to you, wherever you are. I wanted to let you know about the image that we have chosen for the invitations which you see at the top of this blog.

This is an image painted by Rubens of the first Jesuits attending Mass (Bl. Peter Faber, S.J. was the first priest of the Society of Jesus) and is taken from the collection at Stonyhurst College, U.K.
